hi! nice to meet you! (you can't talk back to me on a static website, but okay.) my name is matias /məˈtiːəs/?, but all my friends, enemies, and everything in between just call me mati /ˈmɑːt͡ʃi/? (they/any), and you're welcome to call me that too. i'm eighteen (i was born in 2006), and i'm from brazil. i also have autism :3
if you'd like to talk to me, i'm very open to making new friends: add me on discord at @icecreamati! (or click here, this should take your right to my user profile.)
linguistics. seriously. i've loved this stuff since i was twelve, and most of the stuff on this website is going to be about it. you can check my old blog for more of it, if you'd like to. i also happen to speak, to varying levels, quite a few languages: other than english (obviously, i wrote this page), i speak portuguese natively, and i also speak japanese (to an upper intermediate level. i need more people to talk to and practice, though! 日本語のネイティブ友だちになってくださいw)
i've also dabbled in esperanto, which was what got me interested into languages and linguistics to begin with, and i can still speak it quite well. (se vi volas konversacii en esperanto kun mi, ni ja povas!) but other than that, i've studied french and russian in the past. lastly, recently i've been interested in toki pona, and i'm even making a course on this website teaching one of its writing systems, sitelen pona. (i also tried learning mandarin once, but due to lack of interest i gave up. i know a lot about the linguistics of mandarin though!!)
vocaloid! and modern japanese uhh... "pop" music? i'm not good with genre names, in general. my favorite japanese musician is syudou (youtube), but i also like kanaria, ado, takeaki wada, deco*27, and many others!
... and some more! i like a lot of things, but here's some of them i think are worth mentioning: riichi mahjong (if you'd like to play online with me, hit me up!), the webcomic xkcd, history, math, and typography. also whatever my current obsession may be because my autism is just like that and i love getting into rabbit holes. (i also love the deco*27 song ラビットホール rabbit hole, but that's something else.)
